Tableau dashboards and automated reporting across seven governance workstreams for a global engineering consultancy.
Arcadis UK’s governance and assurance function oversaw seven distinct workstreams, each generating its own data. Reporting was manual: analysts compiled spreadsheets, chased updates, and prepared slide decks before every review cycle. Visibility was always one step behind.
The programme started with a decision to learn Tableau properly. Self-directed certification came first; dashboards followed. Each workstream got its own reporting product, tailored to the questions that team actually needed to answer: incident trends for health and safety, carbon metrics for sustainability, flag rates for employee vetting, findings summaries for internal auditing.
Automation reduced the manual assembly work. Scheduled data extracts, app integrations, and workflow triggers replaced the spreadsheet-chasing cycle. Six Sigma process improvement methods applied to data collection identified where the biggest time losses were sitting.
The result was a reporting function that could produce workstream views on demand, not on a fortnight’s notice. Seven domains, one consistent approach: connect to the source, surface what matters, reduce the overhead of staying informed.
